PTSD, war injuries, rehabilitation and much more can take an enormous emotional and financial toll on our military veterans and their families. We desire to offer a full service motel for Veterans and their families, free of charge, who are going through physical and emotional transitions that require ease of access to the VA Hospitals across the nation. Locating these motels near the VA Hospitals across the United States will greatly ease the burdens experienced by our soldiers and their supportive families. In addition, we will be recruiting other motels to donate space as the need fills to capacity, as it certainly will. Our goal is complete care for all in need. Our day center in Hiwasse, AR will continue to meet many of our Veterans needs until NWA can support a motel here.
Veterans Motel, Inc. is a non-profit hotel for our Veterans in crisis. It started between me and a good friend while we were feeding the homeless. We were volunteers at many feeding sites, as well as, food distribution outreach to the homeless. We would pack up sack lunches and go the places where the homeless gathered. It amazed me how many were U.S. Veterans. Their stories were diverse and many. The one thing that stood out was their inability to get the medical attention needed to improve and move upward in their lives. With no transportation and no place to stay while awaiting a treatment program, sometimes living hundreds of miles from a VA Hospital. Some of these men and women had families, spouses, and children, but could not go home because they needed to be admitted or close to a VA Hospital for necessary treatment. The idea of a VA Motel was born. My dear friend has since passed but our mission continues. You can help make VA Motel a reality.
